President Message

April 2018

Jimmy Picture

Dear Members,

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season filled with good food and much laughter. We are all back to the grindstone and the Executive Board and myself are getting ready to start negotiations with the City concerning our new contract. Our current contract ends in June 2018 so we are trying to start the process early to have a new contract in place as quickly as possible.

The mid-term elections are on the way and everyone must get out and vote! If we wish to put a check in place versus the republicans and to protect our rights we need to vote democratic. Our country is divided and we can thank the media, internet and the Russians. There is no check on what can be broadcast on cable, put on the internet or published. There is nonsense from all sides but we need to put an end to it. The Russians have divided us and don’t think that wasn’t their plan. Putin is a thug and a criminal that has decided he should be in charge of the world. He is trying to drive a wedge between America and our NATO allies and between all of us in America. Anyone that thinks he is truthful and honest is a moron. This is why we need to get out and vote in huge numbers so even if the election is tampered with there will be too many votes for whatever shenanigans that are being tried by the Russians to influence our election. We are all one people no matter what they try to use to divide us we can never lose sight of that because that is what makes America great and not any stupid saying.

I am the son of two immigrant parents that came to this country for a better life. They did not have a high school education but they had the ability to work hard. That is what they did seventy-five years ago. They took the jobs no one else wanted to do and did them. This is the same today but for some reason it is creating our unemployment problem. The new Immigration laws that are being proposed by the White House to restrict future immigrants from entering the country would have kept my parents out if they came after this proposed bill was passed by the House and Senate and then signed by the President. This is wrong and is totally against our principles as the society of America. We are supposed to be civilized but all I see is cruelty from those that are in power. We need to keep hope alive and this can be done by changing the House and Senate because that shining light that America is supposed to be is dimming. We are a resilient people and if we all stick together we can make it shine again.

Finally we will be having our General membership meeting on Wednesday APRIL 25, 2018 at 6:00PM in the Union Office located at 36-36 suite 200, Long Island City New York 11106, refreshments will be served. We hope to see you there.

In Unity,

James Golden

President
